One Piece Exposes A Traitor In The World Government (INTERESTING)

In One Piece, an iconic bad guy makes a comeback, but it seems that Sentomaru has cheated the World Government by joining Dr. Vegapunk and the Straw Hats.

CAUTION: Beware, the following contains potential plot spoilers for One Piece chapter 1068.

In the manga and anime series One Piece, an old foe has made a comeback, however, this time Sentomaru is not on the side of the World Government.

Sentomaru is one of the most formidable adversaries that the Straw Hat Pirates have ever faced, regardless of the fact that he only appears in a couple of episodes throughout the series.

On the other hand, it would seem that his loyalties have altered, indicating that he is no anymore an adversary of Luffy and his company.

Although during Sabaody Archipelago Arc, Sentomaru began his career as the leader of the Marines’ Special Science Group. This role was one of his first (SSG).

Together with Admiral Kizaru, to whom he refers as “uncle,” he led a team of Pacifista, who are hazardous peace-keeping cyborgs made by the World Government using the corpse of Bartholomew Kuma. They attempted to seize the Straw Hat Pirates.

Following that, Sentomaru made another appearance throughout the Summit War, and eventually, once the Straw Hats made a short comeback to Sabaody following the two-year time gap, he was there as well.

The 2nd time around, he could not battle Luffy and his companions; nonetheless, he was capable to see their astounding development and newly discovered power until they left for the New World.

Sentomaru was presented as Dr. Vegapunk’s bodyguard when he first appeared in the manga; yet, this took place 14 years prior to the true introduction of the brilliant scientist.

Because of this, the nature of their connection is not completely understood, other than the information that they are both members of the Marines’ SSG.

Meanwhile, Vegapunk has just found himself in hot water with the World Government as a result of his illegal investigation into the past of the Great Kingdom.

In order to get rid of Vegapunk, the assassins who work for CP0 have been sent to the laboratory that he works in on Egghead Island.

After the battle on CP0 starts in chapter 1068 of One Piece, Vegapunk commands the deployment of his latest cyborgs, the Seraphim Pacifista, and places Sentomaru in command of them.

This demonstrates that the bodyguard is eventually devoted to Vegapunk instead of the Marines or the elected government.

Sentomaru’s Return Signifies A New, Strong Ally For The Straw Hats

It comes as a bit of a surprise to learn that Sentomaru would be fighting on Vegapunk’s side, considering that after the time jump, he was raised to the rank of fully-fledged Marine Officer.

He was very devoted to his unit, the Marines, and took his role as an officer and responsibility as a leader of the Pacifista cyborgs extremely critically.

On the other hand, the revelation that he was elevated to the rank of an officer at a later date suggests that Sentomaru was not always a Marine; hence, Vegapunk is the one to whom he owes his initial devotion and loyalty.

Despite this, Sentomaru is a highly significant figure in the series since, together with Kizaru, he was the initial foe that the Straw Hats were unable to contend with. This makes him one of the first major antagonists in the story.

The purpose of the whole Sabaody Arc was to educate the Straw Hats about the disparity in strength that exists between the initial and 2nd halves of the Grand Line.

Sentomaru managed to make a significant imprint on the fans as a representation of that tragic event.

When the facts behind Sentomaru and Vegapunk’s connection are revealed, it is going to be an extremely intriguing event.

Given that the scientist is going to be accompanying the Straw Hats in order to get away from the World Government if Sentomaru joins as well, the crew will acquire additional highly strong members, which is something that they are going to undoubtedly require in the difficult fights that they are going to encounter in the thrilling last chapter of One Piece.
