After the underwhelming quality of Thor: Love and Thunder, Marvel Studios still has a chance to improve Thor, however they won’t be able to do it before after the events of Avengers: Secret Wars.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is an issue with Thor that has to be resolved, and although Marvel Studios has a method to do it, it won’t be resolved until Avengers: Secret Wars. Thor: Love and Thunder, directed by Taika Waititi, marked the awaited return of the Thunder God after the events of the Infinity Saga.
In light of the fact that it was Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi’s first collaboration since Thor: Ragnarok, which was released in 2017, there were a lot of people looking forward to seeing the movie.

Sadly, it didn’t quite live up to the expectations of many fans, which forced Marvel Studios to once more rethink its strategy for portraying the superhero.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Thor has been a challenge for Marvel Studios. Although Kenneth Branagh’s Thor was met with favorable reviews, Alan Taylor’s sequel, titled Thor: The Dark World, was considered to be one of the weakest entries in the saga, if not the worst overall entry in the series.
These movies presented Thor in a way that was more reminiscent of a god from Shakespeare, which did not connect very well with audiences. Thor: Ragnarok, directed by Waititi, was important in successfully saving the franchise since it not only reimagined the movie franchise and yet altered Thor’s identity.
It was nice to see a more cheerful and amusing hero in the movie sequel as opposed to the dark and gloomy Asgardian. As can be witnessed in Thor: Love and Thunder, regretfully, this edition is now obsolete and no longer functional.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe Will no Longer Use Taika Waititi’s Version of Thor
Waititi, aware of the success that Thor: Ragnarok had, made the reasonable decision to focus even more on the comedic aspects of Thor’s character, particularly considering that he’s busy with the Guardians of the Galaxy, who are also known for their sense of humor.
Obviously, the director of Thor: Love and Thunder went too far with the comedy in the picture.

It was the most significant critique leveled against Thor: Love and Thunder, which had a variety of ratings and was not quite as well received as Thor: Ragnarok.

Although it is not yet known if Waititi will continue to have a role in developing the superhero in the future, it is quite evident that an excessively comedic version of Thor can no longer serve as the MCU’s standard edition.
The Best Marvel Cinematic Universe Thor Film Is Avengers: Infinity War
Fortunately, Marvel Studios seems to have a solution to the problem in Thor. The God of Thunder has indeed been criticized for years for being either too gloomy or too upbeat, but the filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo managed to strike a fine balance between the 2 different aspects of his personality in Avengers: Infinity War.
Regardless of the reality that it was a collective work with a lot of different moving parts, the emotional arc that Thor experienced stood out.
As the Avenger was still reeling from the loss of another loved one, this time Loki and Heimdall, the need for vengeance against Thanos clouded his judgment.
In Avengers: Infinity War, Hemsworth appeared in both comic and tragic scenes, frequently each other at the same time. This allowed him to shine brightest in the serious scenes he was in.
One particularly affecting case of this would be the dialogue that took place between Rocket Raccoon and Thor.
In what is widely considered to be among the movie’s greatest moments, the God of Thunder, who’s still upset about his most recent loss, is being shown badly attempting to conceal his pain to boldly claim that he will make Thanos pay for his doings.
This scene successfully balances comedy with the emotional weight of the situation being depicted on screen.
The Russo Brothers Are Able to Repair Thor, Although Not Before Secret Wars
If Marvel Studios decides to get the Russo Brothers back into the series, it will be some time before they are able to restore Thor. This, of course, is presuming that Marvel Studios will invite them again.
The picture is the finest option for them to come back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, regardless of the fact that they have denied rumors that they remain in the hunt to helm Avengers: Secret Wars.
The results that they were able to achieve with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame were sufficient to persuade Marvel Studios to entrust them with what has the potential to become their most successful picture to date.
Apart from this, the Russo Brothers have indeed voiced their desire to direct Avengers: Secret Wars at some point in the future.
In the event that the Russo Brothers do not return for Avengers: Secret Wars, Marvel Studios may consider putting them in charge of the possible sixth installment of Thor.
After focusing on their work on large ensemble films towards the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, the Russo Brothers may welcome the opportunity to direct a picture that is not part of a larger franchise.
