MOVIES

For more than a century, movies have played a significant role in our lives. We have witnessed the development of movies and how they have affected our lives, from mute black-and-white pictures to 3D blockbusters.

In addition to providing entertainment, movies also serve as a window into contemporary culture and society. The history of movies, their influence on culture, and some of the greatest motion pictures ever created will all be covered in this article.

Movies’ Effects on Society

Both the good and bad effects of movies have been felt by society. On the plus side, movies have the capacity to uplift, inform, and unite audiences.

Movies like Good Will Hunting and Dead Poets Society encourage viewers to follow their passions and aspirations. People can learn about past events and contemporary problems by watching films like Schindler’s List and 12 Years a Slave. Movies like Crazy Rich Asians and Black Panther bring people together and celebrate diversity.

On the flip side, movies can reinforce harmful behaviors and stereotypes. Movies like The Wolf of Wall Street and The Godfather celebrate illegal activity, whereas The Birth of a Nation and Song of the South propagate negative preconceptions about African Americans.

Additionally, movies have the ability to affect how people feel and behave. For instance, many people developed a fear of swimming in the ocean after the 1975 release of the film Jaws.

Due to people starting to kill sharks out of dread as a result of the movie, the shark population also suffered.

Similar to how books can benefit society, so can movies. For instance, many people were motivated to take action against polluting corporations by the movie Erin Brockovich.

The prejudice experienced by those with AIDS was brought to light in part by the film Philadelphia.

Generally speaking, movies are a significant means that can be used to entertain, enlighten, and inspire people. It is crucial that filmmakers make responsible use of their ability to influence how we think and act.
